Pulse Markets was founded in 2001 and has grown into a diversified financial services operation with a wealth of investment experience. Based in Sydney, Pulse Markets has a core offering of:

In 2018 Pulse Markets was acquired by BIR Financial (BIR.ASX) which is listed on the ASX.

Wealth Management – Derivatives & Securities

Pulse Markets has a highly experienced team in derivatives trading and advisory. Pulse Markets prides itself on being a specialist derivatives provider to our clients. In partnership TradingWaves, Pulse Markets is able to offer a range of innovative derivatives model portfolios to suit a broad range of investment objectives. The model portfolios are available on both domestic and international options markets. General options trading outside of model portfolios is also available. The team also offer a wealth of experience in ASX listed equities from small to large cap companies.

Wealth Management – International Portfolios

Pulse Markets provides clients with access to international portfolios across various industries, trends and investment styles. In partnership with Macrovue, Pulse provides platform services that removes the requirement for any physical paperwork and enables clients to view holdings, performance and balances. This platform offers the ability to trade over 22,000 shares and ETF’s across 23 global exchanges, including the ASX. A key feature to the international offering is that there are no need for complicated W8-BEN forms and with the custodian system all dividends are paid into the account eliminating overseas registries.

Wealth Management – Managed Discretionary Accounts (MDA)

Pulse Markets is an MDA provider offering its clients a range of multi-asset class model portfolios. These dynamic portfolios can provide capital protection and risk management. An MDA account allows an investor to set a investment programme with objectives, such as income or growth. The portfolio is then actively managed on a daily basis by a investment manager who adjusts the holdings according to the clients investment programme. The benefit to a client is being able to benefit from professional advisory backed by an investment committee whilst maintaining control of their own portfolio.

Equity Capital Markets (ECM)

Pulse Markets offers a wide range of ECM services to its clients. The Pulse Markets ECM team has participated in assisting listed and unlisted companies in raising capital through private equity and placements. Pulse Markets has also acted as lead manager in a number of IPO’s. From mineral sands to property investment, Pulse has represented a wide range of companies in various sectors.

AFSL Services – Managed Discretionary Accounts

Pulse Markets is currently providing Managed Discretionary (MDA) Account services to a number of advisory groups. Pulse Markets MDA structure can assist advisory groups by removing the hassle of constant client approval by allowing advisers to operate model portfolios according to an investment mandate. Managed Discretionary Accounts can be created for any legal structure or client type, such as an individual, a self-managed super fund, family trust or a company account. An AFSL can chose to use their own or Pulse Markets model portfolios.

Andrew Braund


Andrew has over 30 years of experience in investing in Australian and international securities and derivatives products. After graduating from the University of Sydney in 1986 Andrew worked at Westpac before joining Bank of America in Hong Kong. On returning to Sydney and after a brief stint with Societie General, Andrew established Pulse in 2001 and has actively managed the firm into a successful AFSL dealing with first time investors to international institutions.

Michael Stuke

COO/ Chief Risk Office

Michael joined Pulse Markets in 2018 as the Chief Operating Officer. Michael has over 30 years of experience in banking, insurance and funds management. Having started his career at AMP Michael has held senior roles at Westpac and later on CBA where he was a general manager in group risk management. Since graduating in 1987 from the University of NSW in Computing and Mathematics, Michael has completed a number of postgraduate qualifications: CPA, F FIN and ANZIIF.

Brett Westbrook

MDA Responsible Manager

Brett is a responsible manager on the Pulse license and chairs several investment committees for Australian Financial Services License holders. Brett has 40 years experience in the financial services industry in the management of large superannuation funds, the provision of advice to both wholesale & retail clients, financial planning and operating managed investment schemes. For the past ten years Brett has been involved in managing accounts for both Wholesale and Retail accounts. The last six through MDA arrangements.

Vaz Hovanessian

Director ECM and Corporate Advisory

Vaz has over 35 years experience in the corporate advisory industry. He is highly skilled in Negotiation, Business Planning, Retail, ASX listings, Corporate Advisory, and Management. Vaz has a trong entrepreneurship professional approach and is able to work across multiple industries from fintech, retailtech, mining,retail and oil and gas. He has a Bachelor of Business and Master of Applied Finance, focused in Accounting & Finance from University of Technology Sydney and Macquarie University. 

Tolly Sakellariou


A professional trader, educator and ex-financial planner who has been actively involved in the markets for over 28 years. Tolly is regarded as one of Australia’s leading Technical Analysts, specialising in derivatives for over 15 years and having worked for some of Australia’s leading institutions including Westpac, NAB and ABN AMRO Morgans. Tolly was the co-founder of a financial services company which provided stock market advice and technical reports between 2003-2011 and now heads up Trading Waves within the Pulse Markets Group. Katrina Griffiths

Model Manager (Is Katrina still with Pulse?)

Katrina is a model manager who currently specialises in the US market. In 2007, Katrina graduated from the University of Sydney in Commerce and shortly afterwards started her career at Macquarie working in private wealth. Katrina has subsequently held senior compliance roles in funds management before moving into model management.
